The celebrity world has been rocked with controversy after popular Mexican
singer, television personality, and celebrity Larry Hernandez was arrested
on assault and kidnapping charges. Although the arrest took place at the
LA/Ontario International Airport in California, he will be extradited
to South Carolina to face the charges.
What happened to have these charges brought against him? And what will
happen to his career now? For the answers, San Antonio media turned to
Criminal Defense Attorney Alfonso Cabañas. The exclusive interview
was picked up by
Univision (Mr. Cabañas begins his interview at just about 3:33 timestamp,
for those of you short on time).
As explained by Attorney Cabañas, Larry Hernandez has been accused
by a former event promoter for having his entourage kidnap and beat him
over unpaid service fees; some reports say the alleged victim owed Hernandez
close to $15,000. The accuser claims to have escaped his captors and ultimately
wound up in Newberry, South Carolina, where he filed his police report.
An ongoing investigation will determine whether or not to bring forth
a criminal indictment against the singer in San Antonio.
Mr. Hernandez is steadfast in his defense, calling the allegations lies
and fabrications. He also is quick to point out that he made no attempt
to hide from the authorities, which he argues is evidence of his lack of guilt.
With so much still up in the air and evidence still being collected, it
is uncertain how this will impact the celebrity’s career and future
freedoms. For more information about the case as it develops, be sure
